Enough time has gone by to be able to look at how the launch went overall, I think.

I gave them a C
The game was running wonderfully, but the server situation was garbage. With 500,000 open beta players, they should have known they'd have more than 100,000 people playing by the end of a holiday weekend. Just lack of forsight. Still quite a number of bugs/oddities (herb-gathering lock-ups and nude char select screen come to mind real fast), but all in all the game is playable and enjoyable.

The nude character screen thing isn't a bug. Blizzard has done that to minimize calls to the database while they upgrade it (not something they can simply throw hardware at, unfortunately).

I know it's not a bug, but it's an "oddity."
Yes, I am bored at work, and yes, I am bumping my post count =p

I went with a B. Yeah, there were problems those first few nights, and it was bad, but I think they did a pretty good job of fixing them up in a timely manner. Heck, I've seen EQ expansions that went worse than this, and this was a whole brand spanking new game.

Only real problem I had was getting booted once and once I tried to get into the game and hit a 40 minute queue.

First night was bad, but it looks like they have it straighten out. Would have been better if these things had never happened but they were handled quickly and in a timely fashion.

I gave it a good. (B)
