People had been wondering, and here it is:
Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its third BlizzCon™ gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on October 10 and 11. BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment®'s Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® franchises. In response to the demand to accommodate more attendees, this year's event has expanded from two convention halls to three.

"Whenever we've been able to meet and interact with Blizzard gamers from around the world, it's been a great experience for us," stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're looking forward to seeing even more of our players at this year's BlizzCon and delivering another entertaining and informative event for them."

BlizzCon will offer a wide variety of activities to help all attendees get the most out of the two-day event. In addition to serving as a gathering place for the different Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, attendees will be able to enjoy:

* Hands-on play time with upcoming Blizzard Entertainment releases
* Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
* Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
* Areas and activities devoted to licensed products such as the World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game
* Costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests with great prizes
* Commemorative merchandise based on the Blizzard Entertainment franchises
* A silent auction
* More exciting activities to be announced

Tickets for BlizzCon will go on sale in the next few weeks at a price of $100 USD per person. As the event draws closer, further details will be announced on the official BlizzCon website: www.blizzcon.com.

Bleh. I'm determined to make this one of these days, but unless I can pay gold to have a gryphon come pick me up, this year doesn't look promising.

Hmmm... how much do kidneys go for, I'm pretty sure I've got a spare.

A gnome kidney? I'm betting not much. :)

I plan on coming this year, hopefully as an exhibitor. What's better than going to a convention? Getting PAID to be there!

What hotel(s) is everyone planning on staying in for this?

*laughs* John and I will be staying at the "our house" hotel. :-) We're in Irvine; so, it's not much of a drive.

We're within driving distance, so we may be doing the same thing.

I may repeat this year. I really enjoyed it last time and have heard
a rumor that they will be serving ale again in the local inns.
Ringo and I stayed in the Castle Inn a block or two from the
convention center. Nice enough, modest price, convenient
and decent WiFi. (There was a Pally suit of armor in the lobby
but you can always ignore that.)

The S.O. group was a fun rowdy bunch last time and should be
encouraged to reprise the experience this year.

And, of course, there'is the Riding Polar Bear (with tiny Murloc
coxswain) and a 50/50 chance of getting an inflatable Frostmourne.

It would be awesome if only ye could ride the bear while still wearing
that 2007 Blizzcon Murloc costume....

Tickets are now on sale. The store is having a lot of technical issues, so be prepared for a bit of frustration.

On sale normally implies the ability to buy things. Just saying.

So far no luck for me. The site kept crashing on me or sending me back to the beginning.

Well after continually trying and always having the site error out on me one way or another, even after getting into the fill in your credit card details a couple of times, they are now sold out so I guess Gnooks and I are out of luck this year.

Not feeling very happy towards Blizzard at all really, having wasted an awful lot of time mashing buttons over and over again and then not getting tickets.

I'm thinking that must just be an error to be honest. My boyfriend had some luck getting in and buying tickets, then we looked over on my computer when he was getting frozen out and it showed sold out. So....

I'm thinking there's just something not working right on their site.

Either that or scalpers came in and bought every fucking ticket so they can sell them at higher prices because they are pricks. >.<

Possibly not sold out, but it's hard to tell. The linked article reports that the tickets are sold out, but then edits 1 and 2 at the bottom of the article are saying that this is just an error, but then edit 3 says that "sources" are saying sold out, again. It's hard to say.
