EDIT: That big red "Horde" looking symbol at the top and on the boxes on the sides would make an awesome guild tabard logo, too!

It's a memorial for a real person. If you've been to the Sons of the Storm website, where a few of the more well-known Blizzard artists show off their work, you'll see that one of them is called "Twincruiser." This isn't actually a single person, but rather the twin brothers Michael and René Koiter.

Last year Michael Koiter died. The shrine was placed there in remembrance of him. If you look on the front of the monument, you see what looks like some runes. Look closely and you'll notice that the two in the middle are actually his initials, MK.

It's really very touching once you know why it's there. Even more so when you see it from this perspective:

If you're interested, there's a memorial written by by René Koiter at http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/memorial_twincruiser.html

What a great way to memorialize him. It's things like this that make you realize that this game has a heart and soul to it.

Oh, wow... I think that rings some bells now, thanks. That is 100 times cooler and more touching than any quest or text script.

Very very cool of Blizzard to do. That happened in UO as well oh so many years ago. Origin placed a dolphin in the water and named it after the poor soul's character. Sir Death was the name ... kinda ironic huh.

If I remember correctly, it's right about here, on an outcropped hill off from the main hill/mountain, closer to the road:

Wow that is a very impressive addition. I agree, that shows you this game has heart and was made by people who have it as well.
